Siliguri: On 11.11.2021, while the celebrations of Chatt Puja were going on, a precious life was saved due to the alacrity of Probationary Sub Inspector Mr. Pradip Diyali.
One lady, Mrs. Asha Malik(60), was offering her prayers in a temple in Porajhar, Gatebazaar under NJP Police Station.
Accidentally, her saree caught fire from an earthen lamp. The fire started spreading quickly and the hapless woman started running in panic, pain, and agony.
PSI Mr. Pradip Diyali, who was about to move on his motorbike to a different location around, heard her hue and cry for help. He threw his bike and rushed to help her. With his on-duty jacket and bare hands, he doused her fire. In the process, he even suffered minor burns in his own hand. Mrs. Malik was saved with minor burns.
Due to the courage and presence of mind of PSI Mr. Pradip Diyali, a major tragedy could be averted for Mrs. Mallick.
Today, CP Siliguri, Mr. Gaurav Sharma IPS recognized this good, humane work done by PSI Mr. Pradip Diyali and praised his courage.
The Siliguri Metropolitan Police is proud of officers like PSI Mr. Pradip Diyali who come forward to help the citizens even at the cost of their own life and safety.
