Rachakonda: Launching the Praana Vayu Seva and Plasma donation webpage. Mr. Mahesh M. Bhagwat IPS, CP Rachakonda said that Rachakonda Police has been serving the community in every possible manner since the pandemic started- be it the food distribution to needy, free cab service for non-medical emergencies, free ambulance to patients, psychosocial counseling services, adoption of orphanages and old age homes, last ride services and so on.
He stated that 77 personnel of Rachakonda Police Covid warriors themselves have donated plasma to the needy. While convalescent plasma therapy is widely prescribed by doctors for the treatment of the COVID- 19 patients, there is a huge demand for plasma. Of the requests received from the public to the Covid control Room, 70 percent of them pertain to plasma requirements. While Rachakonda Police is trying to reach out to whomever possible the huge demand can be met only if the donors come forward. Due to apprehensions with respect to plasma donation or due to lack of a proper platform to connect, many potential donors are losing the chance to save the lives of many people. CP reiterated that plasma donation is a simple process as blood donation and in fact, a covid recovered person can donate plasma every 15 days. He emphasized that just 400 ml of plasma from a person is taken which can save 2 lives. He quoted the example of a donor who donated plasma 21 times.
CP Rachakonda launched the webpage https://donateplasma.rksc.in developed in association with Rachakonda Security Council. The donors can register themselves and those who require plasma also can register their request in the link provided above. Rachakonda Covid Control Room and volunteers of RKSC will match the donor with the request and address the need. In this regard, a short film in Hindi, directed by Mr. Sudheer and produced by Laxvil Productions has also been released by CP Rachakonda which busts the myths about plasma donation.
CP Mr. Mahesh Bhagwat IPS., and Addl CP Mr. Sudheer Babu IPS., launched Oxygen Cylinder Bank as well. The joint initiative of the Rachakonda Police and Rachakonda Security Council has been named Praana Vayu Seva. The needy can call Rachakonda Covid Control room at 9490617234 and fill in the request form duly uploading the documents and obtain the cylinder for a limited period.
