Madurai: Due to the swift actions of the Madurai District Police, various crime incidents in the suburban district of Madurai are being promptly detected. The Madurai District Superintendent of Police has mandated strict action against those involved in crimes such as murder, theft, and robbery.
On July 9, 2024, a 70-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Vagaikulam village, within the Sindhupatti police station jurisdiction, Tirumangalam Utkottam, Madurai district. A case of murder was registered at the Sindhupatti Police Station based on a complaint filed by Thangaraj, the woman’s husband. Following the order of the Madurai District Superintendent, a special team was formed to identify the culprit, and an intensive investigation was conducted. Fingerprints and phone call records from the crime scene were analyzed.
Chinnathambi, son of Bakyaraj (34) from Nagamalai Pudukottai Police Station, Balakalai Nagar, and Sudha Parasuraman, the eldest daughter-in-law of the deceased, were arrested. Fifty-three pieces of gold jewelry were seized from them, and they were taken into judicial custody. The fingerprints from the crime scene matched those of the accused, Bakyaraj, and phone call records confirmed frequent communication between the two suspects. The investigation revealed that the elderly woman had condemned the inappropriate relationship between the two criminals, leading to her murder to prevent exposure. They also took the jewelry to mislead the investigation.
The Superintendent of Police of Madurai district praised the officers for apprehending the criminals and recovering the property within ten days of the crime. Furthermore, the Superintendent warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in such criminal activities.
