South Andaman, Andaman and Nicobar Island (16.06.2025): In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, South Andaman, in close coordination with the Dog Squad Team, successfully apprehended a suspect near Veer Savarkar International Airport (VSI Airport) with a substantial quantity of illicit ganja.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the joint team intercepted the suspect in the vicinity of the airport and conducted a thorough inspection. During the search, approximately 5.965 kilograms of ganja, discreetly hidden inside the accused’s travel bag, was recovered.
The accused has been taken into custody and booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The seizure marks a critical success in ongoing efforts to combat the inflow and distribution of illegal narcotics in the region.
Police officials praised the vigilance and swift action of the Anti-Narcotics team and Dog Squad, reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free society. Investigations are underway to determine the source and intended recipients of the contraband, with further arrests not being ruled out.
