North & Middle Andaman: In a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking, a dedicated team from Rangat Police Station, led by SI Madhab Halder, SHO, and including SI Manoj Lal, HC(IRBn) D. Rushkeshwar Rao, and PCs T. Abdul Ameen, K. Samir, and Yashwant Rao, successfully seized 1.753 kilograms of illicit ganja and arrested two suspects. The arrested individuals are Krishna Das, 50, a resident of Vegetable Market, Rangat, and Anal Biswas, 40, a DRM at the Rangat Post Office, residing near the Fish Market, Rangat.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the team conducted a raid near Shiv Mandir, Rangat, where they intercepted Krishna Das in possession of 1.536 kilograms of ganja. Further investigation uncovered that Krishna Das had been receiving the contraband from Kolkata via the post office, with the assistance of his associate, Anal Biswas. The team promptly apprehended Anal Biswas, who was found with an additional 217 grams of ganja.
During interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the illegal sale of ganja. They were subsequently arrested, and a case has been registered at PS Rangat under the NDPS Act for further investigation. The seizure of 1.753 kilograms of illicit ganja marks a significant setback for drug peddlers and a major achievement for the North & Middle Andaman District Police. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Rahul L. Nair IPS, SDPO Rangat, and under the overall direction of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
