Malappuram: A 12-year-old boy, Al Amin, went missing last morning in Pothukal, Malappuram district, leaving his family and locals in panic. The boy left the house saying that he was going from his house in Velumpiyampada to the madrasa.
When the child did not return, there was a commotion and a search. The madrasa and surrounding areas were searched but the child was not found. This information was reported to the police. The police reached the spot and started searching for the child. Finally, the child was found at Pathiripad, 10 km away. The child was brought to the station after being persuaded by the police.
Al Amin, who looked upset, was persuaded by the policemen by giving him chocolate. He says when he is looking for things in friendship. “All my friends have bicycles. I’m the only one who doesn’t have one.” – That was the reason for leaving home.
“There is an old bicycle at home. But I can’t ride it. My father and mother can’t afford to buy a new one.” – Al Amin said. Amin’s father is a laborer. Mother is also going to work.
Police Inspector Mr. KT Srinivasan understood his grief and pacified the boy. “Don’t you want a bicycle? How about leaving the house like that? Won’t mom and dad be sad?” Under the leadership of Mr. Srinivasan, the policemen of the station who collected the money and bought a new bicycle for the child.
He returned home with his parents happy with the bicycle. The police officers told Al Amin that he should not leave the house like this again and that he should inform his parents in case of any trouble. Finally there is peace for the police, the locals and the family alike.
