<![CDATA[A 40-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for running an inter-State arms racket, the police told on Thursday, adding that they have seized 24 pistols and 20 live cartridges from his possession. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Mr. P.S. Kushwah told that Vinod Kumar, a resident of Shikohabad, was arrested on Wednesday from Sidhartha Enclave following a confidential piece of information. Mr. Kushwah told that the teams knew that Vinod was procuring illegal arms from Madhya Pradesh and selling them in Delhi. He was than put under surveillance. On Wednesday, the teams were informed regarding his arrival near Ashram Chowk between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. During interrogation, Vinod told the police that he procured the pistols from a resident of Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh, who allegedly manufactured the illegal weapons. Mr. Kushwah told that Vinod joined the trade 15 years ago after he came in contact with a person in Shikohabad, who used to supply arms in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The DCP (Special Cell) added that,Vinoth has supplied more than 500 pistols so far. He used to purchase it for Rs.10,000 and sell it to several persons, including criminals, for ₹20,000 to 25,000. The police told that Vinod would often buy pistol parts and assemble them on his own to make more money. Also, he would buy and supply live cartridges from a person in Shikohabad, they added. Mr. Kushwah added that Vinod has a criminal background and was arrested in 2008 in Uttar Pradesh under Arms Act.]]>
