Thrissur Rural: A native of Murshidabad, who brought marijuana to Chalakudy by train from Visakhapatnam for sale, was arrested near Chalakudy railway station in the Thrissur Rural District based on a tip-off received by Police Chief Dr. Navneet Sharma IPS. Under the leadership of Chalakudy DySP K. Sumesh and Chalakudy Circle Inspector MK Sajeev, the Chalakudy Police, District Anti-Narcotics Force, and Chalakudy Crime Squad apprehended him.
The police seized 17 kg of marijuana from him, which was securely packed in plastic-wrapped bags. Chalakudy Sub-Inspector Albinthomas Varki arrested Aji Bur Sheikh (26 years old), a resident of Kashi Shaha, West Bengal, Murshidabad. The arrested individual previously worked at a curry masala manufacturing plant in the Angamali area. He later returned home and began working as a link to buy marijuana from Andhra Pradesh and deliver it to buyers.
The sale of marijuana was conducted by bringing buyers to the railway station premises. The young man was caught with marijuana during security arrangements made as part of the monsoon inspection under the instructions of the district police chief, Mr. Navneet Sharma IPS. As per the district police chief’s instructions, the police team was conducting secret surveillance focusing on schools, colleges, and bus stands. To prevent the marketing, storage, and production of narcotics, a person from a different state who came to Kerala by train to sell marijuana to students was caught during the ongoing drug hunt at the range level under the leadership of Thrissur Range DIG Mrs. Ajita Begum IPS.
The police have also begun searching for more members of this group. The investigation team included Rural District Anti-Narcotics Squad SIs Stephen VG, Pradeep Kumar CR, Jayakrishnan P, Satheesan Madapatil, Shine TR, Roy Paulus, Musa PM, ASI Maria Siljo VU, Liju Iyyani, Suraj V Dev, Women Cell ASI Seema, Senior CPOs Regi AU, Binu MJ, Shijo Thomas, Soni PX, Manuel MV, Nishant AB, Shinto KJ, Chalakudy Police Station Additional SI Regimon, Senior CPO Beju K. K, and CPOs Suresh Kumar, Sanoj K. M, and Shyam Chandran. The arrested accused will be produced in court after the completion of the proceedings.
