Imphal, Manipur, October 19, 2025: The Manipur Police celebrated its 134th Raising Day with great enthusiasm and pride at the 1st Manipur Rifles (1 MR) Ground, marking over a century of dedicated service, courage, and commitment to public safety. The event was graced by Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, who attended as the Chief Guest and extended his appreciation to the police personnel for their tireless service in maintaining peace and harmony in the State.
Spectacular Parade and Skill Show
The ceremonial parade featured 12 contingents representing various units of the Manipur Police, showcasing their discipline, precision, and dedication. The parade was followed by an impressive skill show by sports personnel of Manipur Police, demonstrating the strength and versatility of the force beyond their policing duties.
Honoring Excellence and Bravery
As part of the celebrations, a number of prestigious awards and recognitions were presented to officers and units for their outstanding service and commitment.
Among them were:
*Jeevan Raksha Padak – awarded to personnel who displayed exceptional courage in saving lives.
* DGP Trophies – for Best Battalion, Best Police Station, and Best Police Officer of Manipur Police.
A special moment of pride was the felicitation of Addl. SP Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, who brought immense honor to the force and the nation by winning a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2025 in Ahmedabad and a Silver Medal at the World Weightlifting Championships 2025 in Forde, Norway. She was presented with a special award in recognition of her remarkable achievements that have brought glory to Manipur Police and inspired young athletes across the country.
Historic Revision of Uniform Allowance
Delivering his address, DGP, Manipur Police, announced a major welfare measure for the force. He informed that the Governor-in-Council had approved the revision of the annual uniform allowance — the first in 36 years — for Manipur Police officers.
Under the new structure:
* Manipur Police Service (MPS) Officers will now receive an annual uniform allowance of ₹8,000, and
* Junior Commissioned Officers (Inspectors, Subedars, Sub-Inspectors, and Jemadars) will receive ₹6,000.
The DGP expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor for his generous approval and continued support toward improving police welfare and morale.
Blood Donation and Community Service
As part of the celebrations, a Blood Donation Camp was organized at the 1st MR Banquet Hall, where 58 police personnel voluntarily donated blood, underscoring the humanitarian spirit of the Manipur Police.
District-Level Celebrations Across Manipur
Commemorative programs were also held at district police headquarters across the State, reflecting the unity and enthusiasm of the force.
* Kakching District Police organized a Mini-Marathon with the theme “Take this challenge: Be a fit policeman”, which saw enthusiastic participation from 158 police officers and personnel from Sekmaijing Bridge to the SP Office, Kakching.
* Churachandpur District Police conducted an Exhibition Football Match between two district police teams, promoting sportsmanship and team spirit among personnel.
* Kangpokpi District Police inaugurated a new badminton court, marking the beginning of the 1st Kangpokpi District Police Badminton Tournament. It was a moment of added pride as Kangpokpi Police Station was also declared the winner of the DGP Manipur Trophy for Best Police Station, 2025.

In his concluding remarks, DGP Manipur commended the entire force for their unwavering dedication, discipline, and bravery in the face of challenges. He emphasized the department’s commitment to strengthening community relations, promoting fitness, and enhancing professional standards through continuous modernization and welfare initiatives.
