Malappuram: On the 19th of last month, a native of Manjeri of Malappuram District got the first prize through the lottery ticket number ND 798484 of Nirmal Bhagyakuri ticket number of Kerala State Lottery. The prize winner was approached by the accused pretending to be a private bank official promising to pay more for the said ticket and Tian was called to the concert stage in Manjeri with the prize ticket to exchange the ticket. The accused that came in two cars and a bike, on the pretext of scanning the tickets, put the people who came with the tickets into the vehicle, fatally injured them and stole the prize-winning tickets.
Following the complaint received by the Manjeri Police, on the instructions of Malappuram District Police Chief Mr. S. Sujith Das IPS, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of Manjeri Police Inspector Mr. Riyaz Chakeri, and after examining the CCTV footage, the accused were identified as Abdul Aziz (26) of Kallu Rikalveet, Palakkad, Srikrishnapuram, and Abdul Ghafoor (38), of Kozhi Palliyali.
Ajith Kumar (44) at Kongassery house, Prince (22) at home in Kalasi, Srikuttan (20) of Cholakunn house and Abdul Mubashir (20) of Elayedathu house from Palakkad Karimpuzha were caught by the police.
The arrested accused have the links of the gang which is conducting fraud by finding the prize winners of the Kerala state lottery and offering huge sums of money in order to launder black money.
From the questioning of the accused, the police got information that they had committed many scams like Swarna Vellari, Nidhi Iruthalamuri, Vellimunga and Swarna Kalll.
Two vehicles used by the accused in the robbery were taken into custody by the police. Manjeri police arrested two people who helped the fraud gang yesterday. The accused were produced in the court and remanded for 14 days.
Under the direction of Malappuram District Police Chief, under the supervision of Malappuram DySP Mr. Abdul Basheer, Mancheri Police Inspector Mr. Riyaz Chakeri, Mancheri Police Sub-Inspectors Mr. Shahul Kodiil, Mr. Shaji Cherukad, Mr. NM Abdullah Babu, Mr. P Harilal, District Anti-Narcotics Team Members Mr. Dinesh Irupakandan, Mr. Salim Poovathy and Mr. R Shahesh conducted the investigation. The gang was caught by the police.
