Mansa: The CIA staff today arrested a 22-year-old youth and recovered 4.45 lakh habit-forming tablets from his house. CIA chief Jagdish Kumar said they had got a tip-off that Vipin Kumar was supplying drugs and medicines without prescription to some of his regular customers in the city. Following the tip-off, the police raided Vipin’s house in Godhu Khillu Market and recovered a huge stock of 4.45 lakh tablets. The accused was arrested. During preliminary investigation, the accused revealed that he had been running Khiyala Medical Store in Mansa and had recently bought the tablets from a pharmaceutical firm based in Zirakpur. “Not only did he purchase medicines without bills and other legalities, he also used to sell these without prescription to some of his customers to hoodwink the police and Health Department,” Jagdish Kumar said. He added that Vipin had learnt the tricks of the trade from his father Hans Raj, who was arrested under the NDPS Act in 2013 after bottles of intoxicating substances were recovered from him. In 2015, a court had sentenced him to ten years in jail. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against Vipin at the City 1 police station. SSP Parambir Singh Parmar said they would seek police remand of the accused to interrogate him about the suppliers and buyers in the drug chain. Abohar: The anti-narcotics cell of the police here seized 260 gram of heroin by intercepting Resham Singh of Sahuwala village (Sirsa). A case under the NDPS Act has been registered. Gurpreet Singh of Kattianwali village was nabbed with 50 sedative injections in another raid. Pawan Kumar, Sucha Singh, Rani Kaur, Rani and Sarbjit Kaur of Bathinda were arrested with 26-kg poppy husk in Hanumangarh as they alighted from a bus. Gurpreet Singh of Mehrajwala (Muktsar) and Pawan Arora, a local resident, were arrested in Sriganganagar on Wednesday. The police seized 7-gm chitta from from Gurpreet and 5 gm from Pawan.]]>
