Ernakulam Rural: Collaborating under the joint auspices of Ernakulam Rural District Police, Ernakulam District Legal Services Authority, and CUSAT NSS Unit Five, a comprehensive initiative unfolded at Kuttampuzha Variyam Adivasi Kuti. This multifaceted event encompassed an awareness class and a medical camp, addressing various crucial aspects of community well-being.
The program, inaugurated by Mr. Ranjith Krishnan, Secretary and Sub-Judge of the District Legal Services Authority, sought to enlighten the community on significant legal matters. Under the capable leadership of ASP (Trainee) Ms. Anjali Bhavana, the event witnessed the participation of esteemed speakers, including Prof. Aparna Lakshmanan, NSS Program Officer of Kochi University, S. Karthik from the Kerala State Civil Service Academy, S. I. SN Sheela of Special Juvenile Police, and SI Joy Mathew of Kutampuzha Police.
The focus of the awareness programs was diverse, covering crucial topics such as child protection laws, the prohibition of child marriage, the paramount importance of education, and the detrimental effects of drug use. The keynote address delivered by Prof. Aparna Lakshmanan added academic depth to the proceedings.
Dr. Abdul Salam, the Superintendent and Cardiologist of Alappuzha Medical College, spearheaded the medical camp. Under his guidance, Variyam residents underwent thorough medical examinations, and essential medicines were distributed. Furthermore, the event served as a platform to address the grievances and demands voiced by the residents of Variyam Kudi. Many issues were promptly resolved, thanks to the concerted efforts of the organizers. Those that required further attention were taken up with the relevant Ernakulam Departments for swift resolution.
