<![CDATA[Srinagar: In a brief shootout the Army killed two militants in north Kashmir's Baramulla. Three infiltrators were killed earlier in the day in the district. As the two militants were travelling in a vehicle they were asked to stop at a joint checkpoint of the police and CRPF. This incident happened on the Baramulla's Kralhaar area on the Srinagar-Baramulla national highway. The militants were travelling in an SUV. When asked to stop the militants opened fire on the security personal who retaliated the fire and the two militants were killed in the gun battle that ensured. The police said that it was a brief shootout and One AK rifle, two Chinese pistols and ammunition were recovered from the site of shootout. A case has been registered. The identity of the slain militants and their affiliations could not be established immediately. In another incident earlier in the day, the Army said that an infiltration attempt was foiled and in the process three militants have been killed in an ongoing operation in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. An Army spokesman said that the infiltration was foiled in Baramulla's Rampur on Thursday and three militants have been killed so far. The operation is in progress. He said the alert troops noticed some suspicious movement along the LoC near Tourna in Boniyar area in the early hours of Thursday and challenged the infiltrators. The security forces were fired upon by the infiltrators when challenged and the fire was retaliated, he said, adding three terrorists were killed in the gun battle. The identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists were not immediately known. ]]>
