Aizawl, Mizoram: Mizoram Police have intensified their crackdown on narcotics trafficking and made significant seizures in recent days through coordinated operations across different districts.
Methamphetamine Seizure at Saitual
On the night of 25 September 2025, a special team from Saitual Police conducted random vehicle checks on Champhai Road near Saitual Bypass. During the operation, the team seized 11.316 kilograms of Methamphetamine, valued at approximately ₹1.47 crore, from the illegal possession of: Lalthlengliana (39) s/o Sangkhuma, and Lalthansanga (33) s/o Late Liansim, both residents of Zokhawthar, Champhai district.
Heroin Seizure at Aizawl
On 24 September 2025, a joint team of Special Narcotics Police Station and CID (SB) conducted an operation at Zemabawk East, Aizawl. The team seized 127 grams of Heroin, worth ₹3.81 lakh, from the illegal possession of Lalruattlingi (33) d/o Late Thianglaikhuma, a resident of Phunte, Falam District, Myanmar.
Accordingly, Special Narcotics PS Case No.29/25 dated 24.09.2025 was registered under Section 21(b) NDPS Act, 1985, read with provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Multiple Heroin Seizures in Champhai
Champhai Police reported four separate seizures totaling 358 grams of Heroin, valued at approximately ₹10.74 lakh:
* 22 September 2025 – At Khankawn Check Gate, 119 grams of Heroin (worth ₹3.57 lakh) was recovered from Ngunneihmawi (50) d/o Mahthawng, a resident of Falam, Myanmar.
* 23 September 2025 – During random checking near Zote, Champhai Police recovered 36 grams of Heroin (worth ₹1.08 lakh) from Zohmingthanga (34) s/o Lalhmingliana, of Electric Veng, Champhai, and Lalpekthuama (30) s/o Late Lalzakapa, of Seling (P/A Bethel Veng, Champhai).
* 23 September 2025 – A joint team of Zokhawthar Police and 14 Assam Rifles intercepted a suspect carrying a folded green tarpaulin from the Myanmar side at the Indo-Myanmar Border Gate, Zokhawthar. Although the suspect escaped into the crowd, a search of the tarpaulin led to the recovery of 58 grams of Heroin (worth ₹1.74 lakh). The suspect was later identified as Lalthlanpianga (26) s/o Lallianeng of Neuva Section, Zokhawthar Village.
* 23 September 2025 (night) – At Chalbawia Junction, Khankawn Check Gate, routine vehicle checking led to the recovery of 145 grams of Heroin (worth ₹4.35 lakh) from an Alto 800 taxi (White) bearing Reg. No. MZ-01/K-5508, driven by Lalengzauva (30) s/o Lalnia of Vaphai (P/A Chanmari, Aizawl).
