Karnataka : Covid 19 has become a major headache for the Karnataka State Police. More than 150 policemen have been diagnosed with coronavirus within the Hubli-Dharwad Commissionerate’s jurisdiction.
In just one week, Covid has infected 150 police personnel at most of the cities in Karnataka. Infecting the police has been a headache for the police, as the district administration is taking steps to control the third wave .
There are 2,100 police personnel in the Commissionerate’s range, all of whom have been given a two-dose Covid-19 vaccine. Also, the police are being given a preventive vaccine as they are the frontline fighters. Of the 150 infected staff, most have mild symptoms. A senior police officer said everyone was at home in isolation and recovering.
Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Labu Ram said on January 3 that a coronal infection was found in a couple of staff. A few days later, further personnel were examined. Then all the staff were taken to check. About 150 staff have been diagnosed with the infection.
During the second wave of infectious disease early last year, about 100 police personnel in the district were diagnosed with coronavirus. Most of them were treated at Covid Care Centers. A separate Covid care center has also been set up to treat all policemen in one place, an official said.
