New Delhi: The Center on Thursday issued orders appointing Mr. Dinkar Gupta IPS, a senior IPS officer and former DGP of Punjab, as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The appointment of Gupta, a 1987 batch IPS officer, was approved by the Cabinet Appointments Committee, according to Central Personnel Affairs Ministry directives.
He will continue as NIA chief until March 31, 2024. The NIA appointed a regular chief a year later. When Y C. Modi retired in May last year, CRPF DG Mr. Kuldeep Singh was given additional responsibilities.
