Rachakonda: Today, the final session of the Sanghamitra training program has been concluded with 120 participants being part of the 5-week long training module. Mr. Mahesh M. Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda was part of the mentoring team who addressed the 120 participants on the importance of being a Sanghamitra to reach out to the society, awareness on helplines and laws and basic processes.
Concepts of Zero FIR, Laws related to stalking and harassment, the importance of upbringing of the children with mutual respect of gender equality was emphasized as this training program was aimed at the residential communities to reach out within the society as a guide towards identifying, listening and directing them towards channels where help can be accessed.
DCP Ms. Anasuya, IPS Women & Child Safety Wing of Cyberabad Police, Ms. Pratyusha Sharma, Jt.Secretary Women’s forum of scSC, Ms. Vishnu Priya Saksena, SCS Lead for Sanghamitra program, and Ms. Shalini Reddy, co-lead of SCSC Sanghamitra were part of the program and active discussions.
This program concluded with an online assessment of the participants. The certification program shall be held on the 6th of October 2020. Sharing below the Programme Schedule:
‘Sanghamitra’ as the name suggests; is a friend ‘Mitra’ who has been equipped with information and knowledge about the various aspects of the law, of redressal mechanism, process, and procedures of seeking professional help has access to resources to help someone from their community ‘Sangh’ in time of need/distress.
She/he will act as the bridge between the community members and the Police as well as the various resources such as helplines, shelter homes, counselors, and others
The ‘Sanghamitra’ program objective is an effort to create awareness about the various avenues of help which are available for a structured approach to bust some of the myths about Police and Policing an initiative to have help reach in a timely and appropriate manner where required an attempt to empower women to take their place in the society as equals a bridge between problems and solutions a step towards building a better societal fabric victim.
