Chennai: On 12.07.2021, Grade I Police Constable Mr. Rejin of G-3 Kilpauk Police Station, was on night rounds near Poonamallee Highway – Taylors Road Junction. One Karthik told PC Mr. Rejin that 3 persons who came on a two-wheeler threatened him at knifepoint, snatched his cellphone, and fled away.
On knowing the identity of the accused, registration number of the two-wheeler, and other identities from the complainant, Mr. Regin, Head Constable called Mr. Ben Aravind Sam and Grade I Police Constable Mr. Thirukumaran, who were on night patrol, come to the spot. They intercepted 3 persons on a two-wheeler who were found to be riding at high speed and enquired them into the incident of thefts in the Kilpauk area.
During the interrogation of Adhibaghavan alias Das (M/24) of Central Railway Station Platform, Rajesh alias Govinda (M/19) of Koyambedu, Divakar alias Black (M/ 24) of Koyambedu, it came to light that the trio stole a two-wheeler earlier and later came across Karthik, threatened him at knifepoint and snatched away his cell phone. The team recovered a cell phone and a two-wheeler. Legal action is being pursued against them.
On 24.07.2021, the Commissioner of Police Mr. Shankar Jaiwal IPS, personally invited the Head Constable Mr.Ben Aravind Sam, Grade I Police Constable Mr. Rejin, and Mr. Thirukumaran to the Commissioner of Police Office and lauded their work by presenting them with certificates of appreciation and rewards.
