Chennai: Ms. Priya Ravichandran, the first woman officer of the fire department, has been appointed as an IAS (Non State Civil Service) officer. Her daily job is to risk her life. Who is this ‘super woman’? Ms. Priya from Salem joined the Tamil Nadu government as a Group 1 officer in 2003. She is one of the first two women officers to be inducted into the Fire and Rescue Service in India. She served with distinction in the fire department and rose to the rank of associate director. Group 1 Government Officers are appointed as IAS Officers on the recommendation of the State Government for certain vacancies. Accordingly, Ms. Priya Ravichandran has been appointed as an IAS officer for the vacant post in 2022 cadre. Ms. Priya Ravichandran, who is holding the post of North Zone Joint Director of Fire Department, has taken charge as an IAS officer from Non State Civil Service (Non State Civil Service) quota.
