<![CDATA[Police said that the Income Tax Department on Thursday raided the residence of Rekha Modi, senior Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi's sister, who is one of the accused in the Srijan scam of Rs. 1,900 crore. According to a district police official, the IT Department team raided Rekha Modi's flat in Saraswati Apartment at posh commercial S.P. Verma road. The police officials said that, Rekha Modi was accused of purchasing huge jewellery gifts from the kingpin of multi-crore Srijan scam that is being probed by the CBI. The Srijan scam involves Bhagalpur-based NGO Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti Ltd., which used to provide vocational training to women. The NGO hadf allegedly pilfered funds from the bank accounts of the Bhagalpur district administration meant for government welfare schemes. After RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, accused him of "murdering democracy" in Bihar, Nitish Kumar had recommended a CBI probe into the scam on August 18, 2017. The CBI registered 10 cases related to the scam in August last year and filed four fresh cases in June this year.]]>
