What to Do If You Lose Your Mobile Phone
Police have advised the public to follow these important steps if a mobile phone is lost:
Register a Police Complaint Immediately
File a complaint through the Kerala Police Pol-App, the Thuna web portal, or by visiting the nearest police station. Ensure that the IMEI number of the phone is correctly mentioned in the complaint.
Obtain a Duplicate SIM Card
Contact your service provider to get a duplicate SIM card to prevent misuse of your mobile number. The duplicate SIM is usually activated within 24 hours and is required for blocking the phone.
Block the Lost Phone via CEIR Portal
Visit http://www.ceir.gov.in and click on “Block Stolen/Lost Mobile”. Submit the application along with required documents such as:
* Copy of police complaint
* Identity proof
* Mobile purchase invoice
* IMEI number
Once blocked, no SIM card will work on the phone. A request ID will be generated, which can be used to track the status. If the phone is recovered, it can be unblocked using the same portal.
Protect Personal Data Remotely
If sensitive personal information is stored on the phone, you can remotely locate, lock, or erase data using
[https://www.google.com/android/find/] by logging in with the Google account linked to the lost phone.
Munnar Police urge citizens to remain vigilant and assure continued support in recovering lost property and ensuring public safety.
