Karnataka : Four persons have been arrested by police on Sunday for allegedly vandalizing a watermelon shop belonging to a Muslim trader in the premises of Nuggikeri’s Hanuma Temple in the district.
Based on a complaint lodged by Muslim businessman Nabisab Killeedar, the Dharwad Rural Police has arrested the accused Mylarappa Guddappanavar (27), Mahaling Haiku (26), Chidananda Kalal and Kumar Kattimani (26) on Sunday night. All of them are residents of Dharwad.
FIR has been filed against 10 accused. Some people have been summoned by video footage of the incident on the Internet. Four people have been arrested for interrogation, a senior police official said.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said it was everyone’s responsibility to maintain goodwill. We all need to live together in the country. He said the law would not protect anyone who engages in such acts.
