Mysore, Karnataka: In a remarkable initiative promoting public health, safety, and civic awareness, the Mysore City and District Police organized the Police Marathon-2026 at the historic Mysore Palace premises. Conducted under the theme “Our Police is Our Pride”, the event featured both 5K and 10K runs, emphasizing “Fitness for All”, a “Drug-Free Karnataka”, and Cyber Crime Awareness.
The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from a wide cross-section of the community, including senior officials, police personnel, students, and members of the public. Among the dignitaries present were Honorable District In-charge Minister Dr. Mahadevappa, Deputy Commissioner G. Laxmikant Reddy, Southern Zone IGP M. B. Boralingaiah, Mysore City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, and District Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi.
Participants enthusiastically ran along the scenic routes around Mysore Palace, with special emphasis on fitness, the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding drug abuse, and being vigilant against cybercrimes. The interactive sessions and public engagement initiatives during the marathon further reinforced the police department’s message of community awareness and safety.
Prizes were awarded to the winners of both the 5K and 10K categories, recognizing their outstanding performance and encouraging active participation in future events. The Police Marathon-2026 successfully combined athletic spirit with social messaging, reflecting the department’s commitment to public welfare and community engagement.
