Mysuru, Karnataka, February 1: In a determined crackdown on the growing menace of synthetic drugs, the Mysuru City Police have intensified their fight against MDMA production and trafficking by launching a large-scale combing operation across industrial areas. Following the detection of two illegal MDMA manufacturing units within six months, the city police have stepped up vigilance to ensure such activities do not recur.
Under the guidance of City Police Commissioner Ms. Seema Latkar and Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Sundar Raj, 14 special teams comprising Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors have been formed under the supervision of ACP Mr. Ravi Prasad. These teams are conducting rigorous inspections of industrial units, with special focus on chemical-based factories. Intensive checks and raids are being carried out in Hebbal, Hootagalli, Kurgalli, Metagalli, Bannimantap and Hinkal industrial areas.
Over the past three days, the teams have inspected more than 250 factories across Mysuru city and parts of Mandya district. Godowns and industrial sheds linked to these units are also being thoroughly verified to rule out any misuse for illegal drug manufacturing. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team is extending technical support to assist police in identifying suspicious materials and processes.
The intensified drive follows major detections by central agencies in 2025, which alerted authorities to the misuse of industrial premises for clandestine drug production. Taking proactive measures, Mysuru Police have launched this comprehensive inspection to plug loopholes and prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
The Mysuru City Police reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards narcotics and anti-social activities, assuring citizens that sustained surveillance and strict action will continue to keep the city safe and drug-free.
