Raipur: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh killed four Maoists in an encounter with Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) unit which was involved in a search operation in the forest areas around Bhimapuram village which falls under the Chintalnar police station limit of Sukma district and is around 400 km south of Raipur, early in the morning. A CRPF official said that four bodies of Maoists in uniform, one Insas rifle and two 303 rifle were recovered.
The official said that the CRPF's specialized unit, competent in guerrilla tactics and jungle warfare, continued with its Anti- Maoist operations. The police said that in a separate incident in Kondagaon district, the security forces destroyed a Naxel camp and seized locally made grenades and other explosives. The operation on the camp was jointly undertaken by District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) and district force personnel, which is located in a dense forest near Tuswal village under Mardapal police station limits on Monday.
He said that the Naxals abandoned the spot when they saw the security forces entering the camp. The materials recovered included 30 locally made grenades, 1 pipe bomb, 4 bundles of wire, a packet of splinters used in air guns, Maoist literature and pamphlets, English, Hindi and Telugu dictionaries, stationery, mobile chargers among other things. It appears that the Maoists had assembled there to carry out some operation, he added.
