Rachakonda: The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS., Rachakonda Commissionerate has stated that “Naya Savera”, a drug de-addiction program is to be re-launched soon in Rachakonda Commissionerate.
Aiming at keeping the children, youth, and students away from drug abuse, Rachakonda Police Commissionerate has launched a drug awareness program Naya Savera in 2017 in collaboration with the Amritha Foundation Society. It helped many children and students to get awareness about the problems with the usage of illegal drugs. This program successfully conducted awareness sessions in schools, colleges, and hotspots. Many students were counseled. A short film on drug abuse, “Maro Lokam” directed by Shashank Ramanujapuram was also released as well.
Speaking to the media CP stated that usage of illegal drugs could spoil the health of anyone. He stated that drugs consumption is a heinous crime in society. Under the NDPS Act for repeated offenses under section 31A, there is a punishment of the death penalty. CP warned the persons involved in the supply chain that they will face dire consequences from the judiciary. PD act will be used against traffickers and suspect sheets to keep watch will be opened. The property earned through drugs selling will be legally seized following the NDPS act procedure CP warned. He opined that drugs consumption is dangerous to the mental and physical health of everyone.
CP said that as a part of the re-launch of Naya Savera, Rachakonda Police Commissionerate is going to conduct awareness programs in the selected schools, colleges, and hotspots offline and online in association with Devika Rani of Amritha Foundation Society. During the sessions, students will be given counseling to safeguard themselves from drug abuse in any manner, CP added.
CP also said that de-addiction programs will also be conducted once a week, on Tuesday. Anyone having information on drugs should inform at 9490617111. For de-addiction counseling too 9490617111 services are to be used. CP advised the students, youths, and citizens to stay away from illegal drug consumption. He requested the public to inform the Police about illegal drug consumption and supply if they come across it.
