North Goa: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 532 grams of methamphetamine; a psychotropic substance valued at Rs.53.2 lakh in the black market, from two suspected members of an interstate drug trafficking ring in Candolim town, North Goa District, and subsequently apprehended them. Among the detainees, J Singh, purportedly the leader of the network based in Rajasthan, and his associate R Singh from Goa, allegedly involved in facilitating logistics, were also detained. According to NCB sources, both individuals had purportedly been engaged in prior instances of drug trafficking. The NCB had reportedly received intelligence indicating that a locally-operated syndicate was aiming to smuggle narcotics into Goa amid increased security measures due to upcoming elections and the region’s popularity among tourists. Acting on this information, the NCB surveilled J Singh, suspected of finalizing a drug deal in Goa, leading to his interception on March 27 along with the seizure of 532 grams of methamphetamine and a vehicle used for drug distribution. Allegedly motivated by the prospect of quick financial gain, J Singh, who had returned to India after working abroad, purportedly persuaded his friend R Singh to join the illicit drug trade, with R Singh allegedly establishing contacts for the illegal activity across various platforms, as per NCB sources.
