<![CDATA[Nayeem, a former Naxalite and gangster was killed during a gunfight with the National Investigation Agency, (NIA) in Shadnagar, 60 km from Hyderabad, on 8 August. According to sources, personnel from the NIA surrounded a house and exchanged gunfire before finally overcoming the militant. The officials forcibly vacated neighbours from the place, Grey Hounds police officials participated in the operation, it is learnt from reliable sources. The house were the firing took place belongs to one Basha. Nayeem was a former naxalite who graduated to crime in and around Hyderabad in the last 15 years. Nayeem was a shadowy figure who's photograph was never furnished by the police although he was suspected to have been in their custody for a while in the 1990s. Initially he was a surrendered naxalite who graduated to real estate crime controlling vast tracts of land in Nalgonda, Medak and Rangareddy districts. The CPI maoist naxalite party always claimed that Nayeem was used as a police informer to kill former naxalite associates. Nayeem was allegedly involved in killing of IPS officer Vyas and Maoist leaders Patolla Goverdhan Reddy. Goverdhan Reddy, founder of self-styled outfit, Revolutionary Patriotic Tigers (RPT), was killed by Nayeem after rivalry arose between the two over land settlements. After being acquitted in the TDP Leader Paritala Ravi murder case, Goverdhan Reddy was into settling several land disputes in and around Cyberabad. There were reports that Goverdhan Reddy had joined hands with notorious gangster Aziz Reddy, a close aide of gangster Chota Rajan, and allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate Nayeemuddin. Nayeem was allegedly involved in the alleged fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Shaikh. Earlier, the CBI officials had questioned his relatives in connection with the case. Nayeemuddin's role in the fake encounter came under the scanner after the Gujarat CID sleuths found that a third person, who had travelled with Sohrabuddin and Kausar Bi from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad, was from the State. Sohrabuddin and his wife were invited to the State by Nayeemuddin and his sister for Id. Source said, Nayeemuddin and his sister booked tickets for the couple to return to Gujarat in a private bus but they (Nayeemuddin and his sister) reportedly tipped off the police who caught the couple mid-way and later killed them. ]]>
