Chennai: DGP, Mr. C. Sylendra Babu IPS said about the arrangements made to prevent cybercrimes, social media teams consisting of 203 officers and policemen have been formed to detect cybercrimes. Social media groups have been set up in 9 cities and 37 districts including Chennai. Teams have also been set up to detect cybercrimes such as sex crimes, narcotics, money laundering, etc.
Constables with computer skills, cyber forensics are selected and posted in the team. Social media under the leadership of Superintendent of Police, Cyber Division will identify those spreading false posts on social media at an early stage and delete those posts. The committee will work to freeze social media accounts of rumor-mongers and register cases of cybercrime.
