Thrissur Coty, Kerala: In a strong preventive action to maintain public safety, the Thrissur City Police detained a notorious habitual offender under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act for one year.
The detention was carried out based on orders issued by Shikha Surendran, District Magistrate and Collector, under relevant provisions of the Act. The accused, identified as Fawad (38), a native of Palayur, Chavakkad, has been classified as a “notorious rowdy” due to his repeated involvement in criminal activities.
Acting on the directions of Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh, a police team led by Suresh V, along with Inspectors Rajeev N.S. and Vimal V.V., successfully apprehended the accused.
Police records reveal that the accused is an inter-district offender involved in over 50 criminal cases across multiple districts including Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Ernakulam, involving serious offences such as robbery, assault, housebreaking, and intimidation.
Officials stated that the preventive detention order was issued considering his continued involvement in activities posing a threat to public peace and safety, even after previous legal action.
Police reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against habitual offenders and ensuring a safe environment for the public. Notably, this marks the 29th detention under the CAPA Act in the past two years within the Chavakkad Police limits of Guruvayur Sub-Division.
