Idukki, Kerala: A major breakthrough was achieved by the Idukki district police with the arrest of notorious thief Kamakshi Biju and his son Vipin Biju, both wanted in several theft cases registered across multiple police stations in the state.
During the investigation into a theft case registered at Thodupuzha Police Station, information was received from Kattappana Police that the two accused, who were also wanted in a theft case under their jurisdiction, were absconding. Acting on a specific tip-off received by Thodupuzha DySP Sabu P.K., a police team led by Sub-Inspector Ajeesh John mounted surveillance and intercepted the duo.
When the police attempted to arrest them, the accused attempted to escape and used pepper spray against the officers. However, the police team acted swiftly and bravely overpowered the accused, ensuring their safe arrest.
The accused are wanted in theft cases registered at Kattappana, Nedumkandam, Shanthanpara, and Thankamani police stations. In total, around 12 warrants, including long-pending LP warrants, are pending against them in various cases.
The successful operation was carried out by a team comprising SI Ajeesh John (Thodupuzha), SI Shamsuddin (DySP Squad), Senior CPOs Harish Babu and Shajahan, and CPO Mahesh.
The arrest of the accused marks a significant step in curbing theft incidents in the region and reflects the effective coordination and vigilance of the district police.
