<![CDATA[New postings have been taken over by a couple of officers in the Police Department. The police officers that assumed office is Inspector General of Police Mr. Sumit Sharan who took charge as Coimbatore City Police Commissioner and the Inspector General of Police Mr. K. Periaiah assumed office of the West Zone. After assuming office, Mr. Sharan while talking to reporters said he would soon be visiting all police stations in the city and hold reviews with officers’ in-charge of maintaining law and order and detecting crimes.His plans were to improve traffic management in the city and take steps to collect fine electronically from traffic rule violators. His other priorities would be to prevent unauthorized parking and have more CCTV cameras installed. On answering to a question on the preparedness of city police ahead of rain, he said personnel from the city police and Home Guards were on alert to meet any emergency. The focus of the Inspector General of Police Mr. K. Periaiah, who assumed office of the West Zone, would be on improving the law and order situation.Instructions were given by him to the police personnel in stations with areas bordering Kerala and Karnataka to be on alert and track Maoist movement, if any.]]>
