Tamil Nadu, Dindigul: In a commendable effort to curb drug-related activities near educational zones, the Palani City Police, acting on confidential intelligence, successfully apprehended two individuals involved in the sale of ganja near the Palani bus stand in Dindigul district.
Under the direct supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Thanajyan, a special patrol team led by Inspector Mr. Manimaran and Sub-Inspector Mr. Vijay was deployed to the area. During their surveillance, the officers identified two suspicious individuals and carried out a swift and thorough inquiry.
Upon questioning, the police recovered a quantity of ganja and a sum of ₹4,500 in cash from the suspects. The individuals, identified as Nagaraj (son of Manickam) from Vellaisamy, Pollachi, Coimbatore, and Mahesh Kumar (son of Palanisamy) from Akkalai Muthur, Palani, were immediately taken into custody.
Following the seizure, a case was promptly registered, and the accused were remanded to judicial custody.
The timely action of the Palani Police has been widely appreciated by the local community, especially for their efforts in safeguarding students and youth from the dangers of drug abuse.
