Campbell Bay : In an attempt to review the disaster management plans and enhancing the ability to respond faster, a Mock Drill was conducted at in and around Campbell Bay today in collaboration with inclusion of different stakeholders at Campbell Bay Police, Army, Navy, APWD, Department of Environment and Forests, Panchayat, Education Department ALHW, Health Department and all line departments including Campbell Bay Administration. On 30.11.2022, Mock scenarios were taken into account depicting with simulation of Tsunami, Earth Quake, Fire Incidents affected at three different places which started from 0700 hours to till 16:30 hours shaking being depicted by the sound of sirens and communication made to control rooms, which triggered the situation of building collapse, washout of shelter near sea area, blockage at roads, falling of trees, fire at home etc., challenges of evacuating people from sites of calamity. Reaction of the first responders from the community upward actually takes place by moving resources (men, machines, material and equipment), and simultaneously the other agencies comes into motion as per the SOP. Subsequently, coordinating over the Control Room, Fire Service and other agencies,, when the emergency gets enlarged an Incident Command Post (staging area)was established were mobilized to all the location and all concerned stake holders reported there to finalise the course of action and concluded mock exercise with full fledge preparedness. Apart from these locations, PHC Campbell Bay was roped in for medical emergency services.
The entire exercise was carried out to sensitize and generate awareness for the public during similar situations if any, in future. The entire exercise was planned and executed under the supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Campbell Bay and Dr. Nitin Shakya, DANICS, AC Campbell Bay taking various roles and responsibilities. Police being the first responder, conducting mock exercises on regular basis to tackle all kind of emergent situations in these Islands and to make aware the general public and stakeholders for better coordination to deal with any disastrous situation in future.
