Kerala, Wayanad: As part of security arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha by-elections, a comprehensive route march was conducted by police and central forces across key areas in Wayanad District, under the direction of District Police Chief, Mr. Taposh Basumatari, IPS. The joint march aimed to reinforce public confidence, deter unlawful activities, and ensure heightened security during the election period.
The route march covered the station limits of Kalpatta, Mananthavadi, and Meenangadi, with leadership designated at each location to ensure coordinated operations. In Kalpatta town, the march was led by Station House Officer (SHO) and Inspector K.J. Bino, who oversaw local security efforts and engaged with community members. In Mananthavadi, Sub-Inspector Saseendran took charge, guiding the forces through sensitive areas within the station limits, while in Meenangadi, Sub-Inspector Abdur Rahiman led the armed forces, concluding the march in the heart of Meenangadi town near checkpoint 53.
Beyond the route marches, the District Police Chief emphasized that election-related security measures would be rigorously enforced at all station limits and border checkpoints. Patrolling activities across the district will be amplified, with dedicated picket posts established at state borders to monitor cross-border movements. Additionally, special joint squads have been deployed to prevent illegal smuggling of cash, gold, and narcotics, especially at vulnerable border points. These measures aim to ensure a safe and orderly election environment across the district, promoting transparency and maintaining public order.
