Kerala, Kasaragod: A member of the gang that broke into a vehicle and stole Rs 50 lakh in Uppala has been arrested. The ringleader, involved in the robbery of Rs 50 lakh by smashing a vehicle that was delivering cash to a Secure Value company ATM in Uppala, has also been apprehended. The Manjeswaram police arrested Karvarnan (28), a resident of the infamous Thiruttu village in Ramjinagar, Tamil Nadu.
The robbery, carried out by a three-member gang in March, was uncovered through CCTV footage during the investigation. Two of the suspects had been evading arrest by hiding in different states for months. The police, who discovered that the suspects occasionally returned to Thiruttu village, kept the area under surveillance for several days. When the police moved to arrest Karvarnan, the main leader in the case, he attempted to flee but was subdued by the officers.
The police have also obtained leads regarding the third suspect. Acting on the instructions of District Police Chief Mrs. Shilpa DIPS, a team led by Manjeswaram Inspector Anub Kumar E, with Sub-Inspector Ratheesh Gopi, ASI Dinesh Rajan, SCPO Shukkur, and CPO Girish PK, and supervised by Kasaragod DySP Sunil Kumar CK, successfully arrested the accused.
