CHENNAI: Police today arrested a youth, a former temporary employee of the Income Tax department here for allegedly attacking another worker with acid two days ago. G Prabu (30) was arrested by a special team for attacking Mohit Pathak with acid, police said in a release. Citing an enquiry, police said Prabu was employed in the I-T department on temporarily basis as a data entry operator a few months ago but he was removed from service. Prabhu was in love with a woman, but the woman had “ignored” Prabu as she was in love with Pathak. This infuriated Prabhu, police said. Prabu subsequently attacked Pathak with acid along with his friend. The police are searching for the accomplice of the accused. Prabu was produced in a court and later lodged in prison. Pathak had been admitted to a private hospital here with 40% burns suffered in the attack at his apartment in Central Revenue Quarters at Anna Nagar. Pathak hails from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and is a hockey player. He has been working in Income Tax office here for the past one year. ]]>
