<![CDATA[The Special Cell of the Delhi Police have arrested a key member involved in illegal supply of arms in the city from Barwala in Rohini district on Tuesday, the police told on Wednesday. Kailash Solanki was arrested following a tip off and the 30 weapons he was carrying were seized by the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Yadav told that the Special Cell has, as part of a special drive, nabbed several members involved in illegal supply of arms. The trend witnessed so far clearly shows that illegal weapons are mainly pumped into Delhi and the National Capital Region from Munger in Bihar, and Khargone, Burhanpur and Manawar in Madhya Pradesh. Mr. Yadav told that they received a tip-off that Mr. Solanki, a member of the illegal firearms syndicate run by one Dinesh in Manawar, M.P., would deliver a huge consignment to one of his contacts in outer Delhi. Mr. Yadav told that a trap was laid near Bhagwan Mahavir Marg crossing towards Barwala turning. Mr. Solanki arrived from Rohini Sector 24 side in an auto-rickshaw. He was carrying a black backpack and a plastic bag. He waited for someone for about five minutes before he sensed police presence and started moving towards Barwala. The police swooped in to nab the accused, who whipped out a pistol and threatened to open fire. A constable overpowered the accused and snatched the loaded pistol from his hand. The police seized 30 pistols wrapped in a cloth and three live cartridges from his possession. "The accused said he has been involved in illegal arms supply for past five years. He works as a carrier for Dinesh of Manawar and supplies pistols to criminals in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana,” Mr. Yadav added. The accused told the police that he worked as a carrier for one Taqdeer of Manawar too.]]>
