<![CDATA[The Delhi Police have arrested ten persons, including four young people, on Monday for creating a noisy argument and damaging a car last week in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar after the vehicle hit a Kanwariya, the police said on Tuesday. The driver of the car was the daughter of a CISF inspector. Initially a suspect Jogesh aged 19, who was seen in the video footage of the incident was arrested from a slum cluster in Dwarka. Following his arrest, the remaining accused were also taken into custody. On August 7 around a dozen Kanwariyas destroyed the car with rods and sticks, managing to overturn it on a busy street in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar, even as the policemen and passers-by looked on. The car had touched lightly while passing past one of the Kanwariyas and the holy water he was carrying fell on the road. Mr. Vijay Kumar DCP (West) said that following this the Kanwariya and the car driver had an argument over the issue and the woman allegedly slapped the Kanwariya,following which the entire group turned violent. The police scanned the names of thousands of Kanwariyas mentioned in the registers of Kanwar camps from Moti Nagar to Najafgarh. Finally, the accused was successfully identified. Two of the accused men namely Jogesh and Vishal alias Dabla. Jogesh was arrested on Monday. At his instance, Vishal was arrested from Kair village in Delhi. Mr. Kumar added saying that the remaining accused have been identified as Aman Kumar aged 19, Jogesh aged 19, Sachin aged 25, Jitendra aged 19 and four juveniles. So far, 11 persons have been arrested. On August 9, Rahul Billa was arrested in connection with the case. The accused are residents of Najafgarh, Bindapur and Dwarka. On interrogating Sachin at length he disclosed that he was provoked by his friend Aman, a resident of Najafgarh to destroy the car. Aman is the main accused in the case. The owner of the car and her companion fled the spot fearing for their lives and refused to give any complaint in writing. A case was registered and the accused were identified on the basis of inquiries conducted by the police and CCTV footage.
