<![CDATA[A Mandawali resident was allegedly beaten by two men who entered his house to rob him at gunpoint on Thursday night, the police told on Friday. The two accused were arrested a few hours later. Pandav Nagar resident Om Prakash was alone when the two armed men entered his home around 9 p.m. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Mr. Omvir Singh told that they took out a country made pistol and asked him where the money was kept. They hit him with the pistol butt but Mr. Prakash managed to raise an alarm. Hearing the victim’s cries for help, two passers-by on a bike came to his rescue. The robbers fled, even as Mr. Prakash called the police. Mr. Singh told that two officers patrolling the area reached the spot and started chasing the accused. He told that other teams were called in and the chase continued for nearly two hours. One robber was finally caught. He was identified as Sajan Sharma. At the instance of Mr. Sharma, his associate Vikas Chaudhary was arrested an hour later. The police have registered a case under Sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, and relevant sections of the Arms Act.]]>
