<![CDATA[A police officer told that the CCB on Wednesday picked up three suspected gun smugglers who are believed to have arrived from Mangaluru to deliver weapons to their contact in Bengaluru. The officers nabbed the trio at Majestic and took them to the CCB headquarters for questioning. The police told that the men were carrying more than one gun, but did not reveal the number of arms seized or their make. “We are yet to ascertain the source of weapons or details of their contact,”said the police officer. This comes at a time when the city is on high alert ahead of the Assembly elections in May. “The Special Investigation Team probing the murder of activist and journalist Gauri Lankesh has been alerted of the arrests, but it is too early to establish any link,” the officer added. Incidentally, gun smuggler Naveen Kumar, the only person to have been arrested in the Gauri murder case, had also been nabbed by a CCB team, on February 18 at Majestic.
