Tamil Nadu, Sivagangai: On the 29th of last month, a robbery occurred at Chidambaram’s residence in Kandaramanickam, near Tirupattur in Sivagangai district, where 49 pounds of gold jewelry and 22.8 kilograms of silver items were stolen.
Following the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Selvakumar Uttara instructed the Tirukoshtiur Police to register a case. Two special teams, led by Tirukoshtiur Police Inspectors Selvaragavan, Sakthivel, and Rajavel, were formed to apprehend the suspects. For the past two weeks, special forces conducted searches across various parts of Tamil Nadu.
Acting on a tip-off, two individuals were intercepted on Tenmapattu Division Road. Upon interrogation, inconsistencies in their statements led to further investigation, revealing their involvement in the Kandaramanickam robbery. The suspects were identified as Soni Raja (58), son of Manikam from Theni, and Alagarswamy (35), son of Muthuppandi from Sekanurani, Madurai.
The police arrested both suspects and recovered 43 pounds of gold jewelry and 15 kilograms of silver items. Investigations also revealed that Soni Raja had 140 criminal cases registered against him across India, including in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
In recognition of their efforts, DSP Selvakumar rewarded the special team, which included Special Inspector Muthuraj and constables Jagadish, Jayaraj, Ramesh, Anand, and Tirukoshtiur Police Inspector Selvaragavan, for capturing the suspects within two weeks.
