Hyderabad City, Telangana: The Commissioner’s Task Force (CCS), Hyderabad, in coordination with local police, successfully busted a racket involved in selling counterfeit household products and apprehended three persons during a special operation.
Acting on credible information, the Special Crime Team of the Hyderabad City Police conducted a raid with the assistance of Goshamahal Police Station and Afzalgunj Police Station, leading to the arrest of Jaya Ram (30), Kachhawa Surendera (34), and Hanuman Ram (21). All three accused are natives of Rajasthan and were engaged in selling duplicate products in the city.
During the operation, police seized a large quantity of counterfeit items, including duplicate packets of popular tea and detergent brands such as Red Label, Taj Mahal Tea, Tide, Ariel, Wheel, and Surf Excel, along with thousands of Good Night mosquito repellent refills and duplicate packaging materials. In total, officials recovered thousands of packets of counterfeit goods and about 75 kilograms of raw tea powder.
Investigations revealed that the accused sourced duplicate packaging materials and low-quality raw products from suppliers in Gujarat and distributed them to retail and wholesale shops in areas such as Begum Bazaar, Goshamahal, and Afzalgunj by falsely presenting them as genuine branded products.
The operation was carried out by D. Bikshapathi, Inspector of Police, Special Crime Team, under the supervision of G. Venkateswar Reddy, ACP, Special Crime Team, CCS. The accused were later handed over to Goshamahal and Afzalgunj police stations for further legal action.
