Campbell Bay : On 26.9.2022 due to electric short circuit a fire incident broke out at around 11:30 hours at Tsunami shelters bearing no. 10 A & 10 B and engulfed the entire houses, as two cooking gas cylinders burst. However, no losses of life or injuries were reported. By timely and coordinated action of FS( fire service), local police, IRBn(Indian reserve battalion), and PR(police Radio), along with the support accorded by different entities likes Navy, coast guard, PRIs the fire was controlled and prevented from further spreading and causing further damage.
Unfortunately the family of Mrs. Kalpna W/o Mr. Dwarkaraj who lives at the above shelter were left homeless. All their belongings and articles were burned and they were left without any basic amenities to live. The Police personnel of Campbell Bay are assisting by all means to the above family affected by this fire incident. On the suggestion of Mr. Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, SP (D) Nicobar & Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Campbell Bay a financial fund were raised from the Police staff of Campbell Bay Police Station and on (2.12.2022), Emergency financial aid of Rs. 25,000/- was given to the above family to help with short-term housing, food, and clothing needs.
