Palakkad: Within a 24-hour time frame, the Kollamkod police apprehended the individual who had sexually assaulted a woman at a lodge in Kollankod, also stealing her gold necklace weighing two pavans. With the assistance of Palakkad Cyber Cell CPO Shebin, it was discovered that the suspect was located in Thiruvananthapuram. Thiruvananthapuram Thambanoor Police Station SI Subash, along with Senior CPO Ginu, monitored the suspect’s movements. The Kollangode police team, led by Amrit Rangan, subsequently arrived in Thiruvananthapuram and arrested the culprit, identified as Johnny (37) from Thiruvananthapuram Neyyatinkara Vaduvurkonam.
Acting on directives from District Police Chief R. Anand IPS and Chittoor DySP Shaiju Tee K, a specialized team of seven members, headed by Inspector Amrit Rangan, initiated the investigation. During the arrest, a mobile phone along with the stolen necklace was seized from the suspect. Further scrutiny of the mobile phone revealed multiple instances of the suspect befriending married women on social media platforms and defrauding them in a similar manner. Additionally, the suspect had prior cases against him for engaging in indecent behavior in public places while intoxicated. The accused was presented before the Honorable Chittoor Judicial First Class Magistrate Court and remanded for 14 days. The team involved in the operation comprised Women CPOs Saseema, Jisha, Sr. CPO Sunil Kumar, CPOs Abdul Hakim, Rajesh, Gjesh, and Driver C.P. Ravi.
