TIRUPPUR: On Tuesday, police registered a case against a man for allegedly abusing a child. The accused is identified as Manimuthu aged 32. The accused have been arrested on the charge of raping a minor at Kangeyam. The victim was found to be two months pregnant during a medical examination. According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s family police registered a case and arrested the accused. The case has been documented under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Punishment for criminal intimidation 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code and put him behind the judicial custody. In a similar ordeal incident, the accused man hailed from West Bengal got imprisonment for five years for indulging in sexual harassment of a girl aged 16 on a moving train in 2016. The Coimbatore Mahila Court on Wednesday pronounced a verdict on the case. Earlier, Tiruppur Railway Police had fined him of an amount of Rs 5000. The incident had taken place in 2016 on the moving train between Erode and Podanur. The case was eventually transferred to Tiruppur Railway Police in December said Police. Since then the case was under investigation. The case was documented under the two sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. ]]>
