An allocation of Rs. 100 crore will be provided next year for the construction of residential buildings for police personnel. Additionally, the nutritious food allowance for personnel in the Uttarakhand Police Department will be increased by Rs. 100. The uniform allowance for personnel ranging from Inspector to Assistant Sub-Inspector will be raised by Rs. 3,500. Furthermore, the high altitude allowance for police and SDRF personnel deployed at altitudes above 9,000 feet will be increased from Rs. 200 to Rs. 300 per day.
Police Commemoration Day is observed to honor the martyrdom of 10 CRPF jawans who were killed during a Chinese ambush on October 21, 1959, at Hot Springs in Ladakh while patrolling the Indo-Tibet border. Despite being outnumbered, the CRPF personnel fought bravely, but 10 jawans lost their lives, and seven others were injured. Since then, October 21 is marked across India as Police Commemoration Day to pay homage to police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
