Pathanamthitta, Kerala: The Perunad Police has swiftly arrested the accused involved in the shocking assault of a middle-aged man, who was attacked with a machete after a minor altercation over drinking water. The prompt action by the police ensured the accused was traced and taken into custody within a short time after the incident.
The accused, Devasya (56) of Ettikkal House, a native of Chembanoli, Athikayam, had allegedly attacked the victim on the roadside around 7.30 pm on the previous night, causing serious head injuries. After committing the offence, the accused went absconding.
Acting on swift intelligence and coordinated efforts, a special team led by Perunad Police Station Sub-Inspector Kuruvila Zakaria, along with SCPO Vijesh, Sukesh, CPO Mara Sethu, Abil and Shahnaz Ramprakash, traced and apprehended the accused from Madanthamann. The accused was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
