Thiruvananthapuram: In Thiruvananthapuram, a special police drive targeting gangsters, anti-social elements, and drug mafias resulted in legal action against 90 individuals for various crimes and the arrest of 153 people with outstanding warrants. Of those arrested, 53 have been remanded in custody, and five have been charged under the Kappa Act. During a meeting chaired by State Police Chief Dr. Sheikh Darvesh Sahib IPS, senior police officials reviewed the special drive.
The State Police Chief instructed Zonal IGs, Range DIGs, and District Police Chiefs to take immediate legal action against perpetrators of violence against women and children. He emphasized that District Police Chiefs should personally oversee serious and high-profile cases, with regular review meetings to ensure the prompt arrest of suspects. Strong measures will be taken against drug sellers and users, both online and offline, with police monitoring the cyber activities of suspected intruders. The night patrol system will be enhanced, and the control room will oversee vehicle operations. District Police Chiefs have been directed to ensure swift action on any received messages.
