Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: In a significant step towards curbing drug abuse and ensuring strict enforcement of narcotics laws, the Tirunelveli Police Range destroyed a large quantity of seized ganja following the recommendations of the court and the Zonal Drug Disposal Committee.
A total of 680 kilograms and 929 grams of ganja, which had been seized from accused persons in 182 cases registered across the districts of Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari, was destroyed through incineration.
The destruction process was carried out under the supervision of P. Saravanan, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Tirunelveli Range, and in the presence of V. Prasanna Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police of Tirunelveli District.
The seized narcotic substance was incinerated at the facility of Aseptic Systems Bio Medical Waste Management Company located in the Pothaiyadi area of Tirunelveli district. The initiative reflects the police department’s continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring a drug-free society.
